1857, 12¢ black, plate I, in combination with 1857, 3¢ dull red, type III, horizontal pair (26) + 3¢ dull red, type IV, horizontal pair with full gutterline at left (26A, positions 1-2R11) on cover to London, England, tied by grid handstamps with red "New York, Am. Pkt., 3, Oct 23" cds additionally tying type IV pair, red London entry cds; type III pair with perfs clipped from top, Very Fine, a rare 3¢ type combination usage.

'3' Jun 8" credit exchange cds on 1860 cover to Liverpool, England, carried by American packet from New York Jun. 9th to Liverpool arriving Jun. 21st, red "Paid, Liverpool, U.S. Packet" (6.22) entry cds, forwarded to London with G.B. 1d red tied by "Liverpool, JU 22 '60" duplex, red London (6.23) arrival backstamp; no flap, otherwise Very Fine and attractive forwarded use.

1860, 24¢ gray lilac, two singles, tied by black circular grid cancels, blurry strike red "New York '19' Mar 13" credit exchange cds on 1861 cover to London, England, carried as endorsed by North Atlantic S.S. Co. Adriatic from New York Mar. 13th to Queensland arriving Mar. 23rd, red "London-W, Paid" (3.25) arrival cds, Very Fine and rare double 24¢ franking.

AN EXCEPTIONAL 24¢ 1860 ISSUE TRANSATLANTIC USE CARRIED ON THE SPECIAL FINAL VOYAGE OF THE NORTH ATLANTIC STEAMSHIP CO. CARRYING BRITISH MAILS.

The "Adriatic" departure from New York on Mar. 9th 1861 was delayed as she had been sold to the Galway Line. Her mails were transferred to the Inman Line as a result. The "Adriatic" sailed from New York on March 13th bound for Southampton, where she was docked and surveyed before taking her place in the Galway Line. Incidentally, she carried the mails intended for the Cunarder "Australasian" which had failed to arrive at New York.
