1938, 50¢ Presidential, vertical pair, used with two 10¢ Prexie (815) singles, all tied by strikes of "New York, Morgan Annex, Feb 24, 1944" duplex on large-size green Red Cross envelope from Prisoner of War Camp, Camp Swift, Texas to Geneva, Switzerland at four-times the 30¢ per ½ oz. airmail rate, "U.S. Censorship, Examined by 503" circular handstamp, Very Fine (photo on web site).
Scott No. 831    Estimate $100 - 150.

Although normal air mail service to Switzerland was suspended from November 1942 to June 1945, express messages from POW's addressed to International Red Cross were allowed to pass through. This outer envelope was send from Camp Swift, Texas, censored in New York by POW censors and entered the mail stream at the 30¢ per ½ oz. rate.

1938, $2 Presidential, strip of three, used with 1¢ Prexie (804) strip of three, 5¢ Prexie (810), 15¢ Prexie (820) pair and strip of three, and $1 Prexie (832), all tied by strikes of purple "San Francisco, Calif. U.S. Army Postal Service, A.P.O. 929, Mar 9, 1949" cds on top piece of wooden crate from Fukuoka, Japan to the United States, purple "Parcel Post" straightline handstamps, Very Fine and scarce use of $2 Prexie from overseas A.P.O.

Prepaid $7.83 for $7.53 parcel post postage on a 65-66 pound zone 8 parcel plus 30¢ insurance fee ($100.01-$200 indemnity). All overseas APOs were rated as Zone 8.

1938 Prexie Issue Postal History, group of 4 covers comprising 3¢ Prexie used on 1944 Japanese post card cancelled by APO 7 duplex to Detroit; 1944 Page Pago Samoa use with 20¢ Prexies (2) to Kansas City; 1941 May 4th use with 20¢, 50¢ Prexies to Palestine "by Clipper via Pacific"; and 1941 Rockford Ill. use to Niuatoou Island, Tonga with 5¢ Prexie and 3¢ War Defense via Inward Tin Can Mail, interesting F.-V.F. group.
