1861, 30¢ orange, horizontal pair in early shade, unusually well centered and with full perfs all around, used with two 3¢ rose (65) singles, all tied by three strikes of large "Paid" grid, red "Boston Am. Pkt. Paid, Aug 22" exchange backstamp and red crayon "24" credit on blue double-rate 1862 folded letter to Port Elizabeth, Cape of Good Hope, endorsed "via England p Jura from Quebec", red "London, Paid, SP 2, 62" transit cds and red crayon "2" Colonial credit, Very Fine and choice use of 30¢ pair on cover, exceptional on-cover multiples of the 30c in this quality are virtually unobtainable; with 2003 P.F. certificate.

1863, 2¢ black, tied by light 1864 Flushing, N.Y. cds and target duplex on cover with spectacular allover illustrated design of American Agriculturist showing Livestock and Farm Implements amid floral borders, with original enclosure with matching letterhead, Very Fine, a choice example of this spectacular advertising design, very rare with enclosure.

York Am. Pkt., Paid, Mar 12" exchange cds, magenta manuscript "32" and red "1d" handstamp credit markings, red London transit (3.26) and reverse with blue "Hong Kong, My 6, 64" cds; signed S. Ashbrook, with 2006 P.S.E. certificate.
