1859 (Feb. 5) New Orleans La. to Cromford, Prussia via New York, February 5th 1859 printed circular bearing 1¢ blue (24) pair, intense shade and impression, scissor trimmed at bottom and upper left corner scuff, tied by dateless "New York" circular postmark, printed "Printed Report. / Per first Steamer." endorsement at upper left, carried by Inman Line Charter Lebanon from New York Feb. 27th to Liverpool arriving Mar. 11th, French red (3.12.59) transit cds, blue manuscript ratings, reverse with Paris (3.16), Frankfurt (3.17) transits and German (3.19) arrival; forwarded internally, a Very Fine circular-rate use.

1855 (Aug. 11) New Orleans La. to Trieste, Austria, blue folded printed circular with company "Printed Circular" straightline at top left and bearing 1¢ blue (9) horizontal pair, huge margins to in at bottom incl. portion of adjoining stamps at top, tied by "New Orleans La, Aug 18" cds, carried by Collins Line Baltic from New York Aug. 22nd to Liverpool arriving Sep. 2nd, red Calais (10.3) transit cds, red Trieste (10.9) arrival backstamp, blue ms. "3" corrected to "7" krCM due rating due to four enclosed circulars, Very Fine and rare multiple circular rate use.
Estimate    $300 - 400.

The top cover was marked 3 krCM due (1843 Austria-France Convention). The clerk saw it contained four more circulars (see vertical ribbon marks) and rerated the postage due of 7 krCM (+1 KrCM each).

Oct." two-line arrival backstamp and neat ms. "3" krCM due rating, Very Fine.

Most British Open Mail circulars to Germany went via France, which had extensive conventions with the German States. In the GAPU, the Austrian kreuzer Convention Mii.nze equaled the south German kreuzer. In 1855, the UK and France replaced accounting for individual pieces of printed matter with bulk accounting handstamps.

Mar 12" cds, carried by Cunard Line Africa from New York Apr. 1st to Liverpool arriving Apr. 12th, red Calais (4.13) transit cds, "GB / 2F PK" accountancy handstamp, "Feldkirch/16. Apr." two-line arrival backstamp and neat ms. "3" krCM due rating, forwarded within Austria, Very Fine and rare use of this "GB / 2F PK" accountancy handstamp, which was used only during the so-called "three months" period., ex-Neinken, Wagshal; with 1979 P.F. certificate.
