Private Die Medicine Trade Cards, a collection of 159 cards plus 4 blotters from over 40 companies; includes 38 Ayer's cards, 5 Wm. Clarke including three scarce cards, 11 Comstock, other companies with Curtis, Perry Davis, Dalley's, Fleming Bros., G.G. Green, Dr. Jayne, Merchant's Gargling Oil, Tarrant's and Wright's Indian Vegetable Pills just to name a few; condition a little varied but the vast majority in very good condition, Very Fine overall.

Proprietary Medicine Collection, of 21 packages from 12 companies that issued private die proprietary tax stamps; includes some scarce items such as wood oval pill boxes from Brandreth's, Dr. Hoofland's Pills (with facsimile stamp on back of wrapper), Schenck's Mandrake Pills (with facsimile stamp over wrapper), two different A. Littlefield Court Plasters one with R3 stamp on back, Dr. M.A. Simmons tin and many others, generally F.-V.F. or better (list of companies available upon request).

Proprietary Medicine with Battleship Revenue Stamps, collection of 24 items (20 packages, 2 small bottles and 2 plasters) each with a complete battleship tax stamp, some of the stamps have printed cancels (including Dr. Kilmer's Prompt Parilla Liver pills intact with contents), others are hand cancelled (including Dr. Tyler's Pepsin Stomach Pills with contents), generally F.-V.F. or better, It would be difficult to obtain these items in today's market (list of companies available upon request).

Medicine Company Collateral Balance, of 91 items from the companies that issued proprietary die revenue stamps: 4 advertising calendars; 4 trade cards and die-cuts; 64 billheads, letterheads, receipts, etc.; 9 postal cards; 1 advertising facsimile banknote, 1 advertising blotter, 5 labels and wrappers, 3 plasters (including scarce Dr. Ayer's Cherry Pectoral Plaster with wrappers) and 21 flyers, circulars, broadsides, etc., includes a series of 5 letters from Demas Barnes, John Henry & Curran and John Henry that shows the progression of company ownership over time; a diverse collection that would be hard to duplicate today, list of companies available upon request. also includes 24 revenue stamped checks (20 of which seem to be different examples from Lanman and Kemp) and one check with R5b dated 1865, total of 116 items.

Proprietary Medicine with Early Revenue Stamps, group of 13 medicine packages (many with contents); one with R3 (Parisian Aroma and Bouquet Alaska, two bottles in slide-top box), three with RB1 (including Hankins' Celebrated Pectoral Lozenges, oval cardboard box), seven with RB11, and two with RB12, generally F.-V.F. or better, It would be difficult to obtain these items in today's market (list of companies available upon request).

Private Medicine Tokens, group of 11 advertising tokens; includes 4 different Dr. Bennett's Medicines with "Dr. Bennett's Medicines Cure Sickness and Pain" with shield on reverse, similar with "200,000 Families Now Use" on reverse, "Use Dr. Bennett's Medicines" with "500,000 Persons Annually Cured" on reverse, and Indian Head Liberty 1863 with "500,000 Persons Annually Cured By Dr. Bennett's Medicines" on reverse, others include two Steinfeld French Cognac Bitters (the same), Buffum's Mineral Water Pittsburg, E.W. Hall, Atherton's Wild Cherry Syrup, Magnetic Powder and Pills for Insects and Rats, Miller's Hair Invigorator 25c, Miller's Hair Dye 50c and Pulmonales for Cough and Colds, Very Fine.
Estimate    $300 - 400.
