Wells, Fargo & Co., Benton, dark blue oval handstamp (11-15) from the station at Benton, Cal. on 2¢ red brown entire with black printed Wells Fargo frank to San Francisco Cal., Very Fine and scarce town.

Better Group, of six entires with better express handstamps; includes 1870's Grayson (rare Stanislaus county marking), 1880's Madera (rare town), 1870 Mayfield (the finer of a few known), 1860's Round Valley (one of the finest of only a couple known), early San Andreas and 1882 oversized San Buenaventura date stamp (one of two known); a nice group, Very Fine.

Wells, Fargo & Co's Express, Castroville, Cal., large rimless three-line date stamp (Leutzinger 17-11) on two 1887, 2¢ entires with black company franks; one in bright blue dated "Jun 7, 1890" to Loma Preita and other in bold purple dated "Mar 21, 1893" to San Francisco with receiving date stamp; some reductions at right, both Very Fine and scarce.

Wells, Fargo & Co., Colton, Cal., Jan 23, 1894, purple oval date stamp canceling on 1887, 3¢ green entire to Los Angeles, company frank at top, Wells, Fargo & Co. receiving cds on reverse; reduced at left, Very Fine, extremely rare and believed to be unique.
Estimate    $150 - 200.

Colton was a small railroad station located south of the town of San Bernardino on the Union Pacific Railroad line. Two different types of hands stamps are known from this location. Both are unlisted in Leutzinger and both are considered unique.

Blaisdell, M.D., Mokelumne Hill" return address handstamp, printed black Wells Fargo paid frank, reverse with "Charges Accounted For In" handstamp; reduced slightly at right, Very Fine.
