1870, 30¢ black, H. grill, N.B.N.C. printing, block of 4, full o.g., centered a bit in at right with full to wide margins around, strong bold color and crisp detailed impressions, with grill impressions discernible from reverse, completely sound, Fine and attractive; with 1989 P.F. certificate.

CONSIDERED TO BE THE FINEST MINT ORIGINAL GUM BLOCK OF FOUR OF THE 1870 30¢ NATIONAL BANKNOTE GRILL ISSUE - THIS BEING THE LARGEST RECORDED MINT MULTIPLE WITH ONLY TWO OTHERS RECORDED.

Only three mint multiples are recorded to date. One which sold in the R.A. Siegel "1998 Rarities of the World" auction which has comparable centering and a natural s.e. at right. Another was mentioned in that description as creased, thinned and quite off centered.
