1873, 12¢ blackish violet, C.B.N.C. printing, horizontal pair, used with 3¢ green (158), tied by corks duplexed with "Richmond Va. Dec 27, 1875" cds on cover to Buenos Aires, Argentina, red "New York '1.10' Dec 29" credit exchange cds, red London Paid (1.10) transit also ties stamps, large blue crayon "10" for Argentine centavos due; right 12¢ pulled perf at top, missing top flap, trivial edge toning, otherwise Very Fine, ex-Gibson, Starnes.

Argentina did not join the U.P.U. until April 1, 1878, the "1.10" in the U.S. marking states the credit in centimes (equivalent to 22¢).
