Gray & Co., Boston, small red label die-cut to circular shape with manuscript "2" denoting 2¢ charge, used on gray January 14th 1848 folded letter from Birmingham, England to Boston Mass., sent privately on Cunard Line Acadia from Liverpool Jan. 15th to Boston arriving Feb. 1st, entered mails with red "Boston '10cts' 1 Feb" integral-rate due cds for the single-rate 10¢ letter rate for over 300 miles to Philadelphia, Very Fine and rare transatlantic mail forwarder label, ex-Blake; signed Robson Lowe.
