ONE OF TWO CERTIFIED EXAMPLES OF THE 1873 30¢ CONTINENTAL BANKNOTE "J" GRILL ISSUE AND THE ONLY EXAMPLE BEARING FULL ORIGINAL GUM.

All Continental Banknote issues except for the 24¢ & 90¢ cent values can be found with the J grill. It is believed these were experimental and are quite scarce to extremely rare. The J grill is distinguished by it's 7x9.5mm grill. The 30¢ issue is the rarest of these grill issues with only two examples certified to date. The other example similarly bears a light vertical bend or fold.
