China, 1825 (Mar. 30) Canton, China to Providence R.I. via Portsmouth N.H., folded letter datelined "Canton March 30th 1825", carried by private ship entering the mails with red rimless "Portsmouth N.H., Sept 9" oval and matching "Ship" handstamp with red ms. "27" rating for 25¢ inland postage plus 2¢ ship fee, docketed received "Sept 10" indicating over 5 months in transit; tone spots and vertical tear, paper brittle and separated in pieces needing reattachment, Fine and very early ship use from Canton to the United States via Portsmouth N.H.
Estimate    $750 - 1,000.

Letter reports on the sale of adventure goods onboard the Ann & Hope including coils of rope, boxes of cordials, cologne etc. The enclosure also lists the invoice for goods purchased for the return trip of the Ann & Hope, including Chests of Tea (Imperial Tea, Young Hyson Tea, etc.), Ivory Carved Fans, etc. Also shows the exchange rate of 72 Candarins per Dollar.
