The Central Overland California & Pikes Peak Express Company Jun 14, Denver City K.T, oval datestamp along with undated strike at top left as frank on 3¢ red (U9) Nesbitt entire canceled by blue "Saint Joseph Mo., Jun 21, 1860" cds to Newton, Iowa; some light soiling and wear, Very Fine and scarce C.O.C. & P.P. Express oval used as frank handstamp, ex-Barkhausen, Vogel, Walske.

The Central Overland California & Pikes Peak Express owned by Russell, Majors and Waddell developed the largest freighting company in the west. The discovery of gold in the Pikes Peak Region helped to expand their freighting business over the Platte River route from their headquarters at Leavenworth city, Kansas and saint Joseph, Missouri to Denver City.
