1938, $2 Harding, used with 20¢ Prexie (825) pair and 50¢ China Clipper (C22), tied by two strikes of dumb oval, purple "New York, N.Y. (G. P.O.) Registered, Jun 24, 1941" backstamps on registered large-size cover to German occupied Holland, purple "Trans Atlantic Route" and "A.R." handstamps, endorsed "Via Clipper Mail", blue "Registered No. 385672" handstamp, dual censored with American tape at left and roughly sealed with German tape, Fine and scarce $2 Prexie use.

The Germans invaded the Netherlands on May 10th and occupation officially began on 17 May 1940 after surrender. It would be five years before the entire country was liberated, during which time over 210,000 inhabitants of the Netherlands became victims of war, among them 104,000 Jews and other minorities, victims of genocide.
