Davis & Co. City Post Delivery, black on gray label affixed and pencil "12½ cts" on gray April 12th 1854 San Francisco local letter with address deleted and readdressed in pencil "Messrs Haight, Wells & Gary over the Post Office", Very Fine; with 2013 P.F. certificate.

LeCount & Strong's 1854 San Francisco Directory lists George H. Davis and Davis & Co. City Agency, at 73 Commercial Street and at the City Intelligence Office at 73 Long Wharf, next door to Charles Kimball, the "Noisy Carrier". Davis ran an early San Francisco local post, delivering letters to street addresses. The government post office had no San Francisco street delivery at this date.
