1847, 5¢ red brown, three margins with manuscript "X" cancel on 1849 blue cover to Champlain, N.Y., postmarked by five strikes "Troy & Whitehall R.R., Aug 16" blue route agent cds, cover with light wax seal spot, Very Fine; with 2021 P.F. certificate. Towle No. 100-A-2.

A STUNNING AND ATTRACTIVE 1847 ISSUE COVER.

Carried north to Whitehall on Route 935 for the steamboat to Champlain. The Route Agent had set the cds with "15" and corrected the slug using the stamp to obliterate the mistake and added fifth strike below to make the date readable.
