1861, 3¢ rose, slight soiling and corner nick from cover overlap, tied by light indistinct blue cds on "The Rose of Washington". patriotic cover in blue & red with four panel design showing Maj. Gen. Geo. B. McClellan, Geo. Washington statue, eagle and capitol building, addressed to Poland, N.Y.; small cover tear at top, Very Fine.

AN EXTREMELY RARE AND POSSIBLY UNIQUE USED EXAMPLE OF THIS "THE ROSE OF WASHINGTON" PATRIOTIC DESIGN.

A similar cover, but with no postmark and a stamp not tied (possibly not used), was offered in the Bischel sale and noted to be the only recorded example.
