1857, 1¢ blue, type Ia, Position 99L4, superb centering with perfs clear on three sides and just barely in at bottom (right plume almost complete), deep Plate 4 shade and proof-like impression, tied by "Chicago Ill. Dec. 17, 1857" circular datestamp on buff cover to Exeter Ill., with original enclosure, Very Fine and choice; with 2002 A.P.S. & 2008 P.F. certificates.
