Confederacy, Republick La., portion of addressing on manuscript canceled U.S. 1860, 3¢ Star Die entire to Carroll Hoy & Co. in New Orleans, with manuscript "Feby 18/61" date mark; some usual pinholes, Very Fine, an extremely rare example of this "Second Republic" designation that applied to Louisiana during the short period of Independence, the republic had determined to join the Confederacy on Feb 4, 1861 but were not in fact formally admitted until March 2, ex-Skinner.
