Philippines, Cover Group, group of about 53 covers, numerous stampless with 1831 Manila to France; 1848 Manila to Spain; Overland mail route to India 1840 from Manila to London; 1831 Manila to Paris; incoming 1852 New York to Manila, folded letter addressed to Captain on the bark Ceres, with red "Via Southampton" handstamp, red "London, Paid, 19 Feb, 1852" cds and "1/4" rating, reverse with light Hong Kong transit cds and red "Forwarded By Russel & Sturis, Manila" oval handstamp (PF cert); 1835 privately carried to Boston; adhesive covers includes; 1883, 2r on 2-4/8c Ultramarine (94), 36 stamps mostly in a large multiple, 12 stamps with inverted surcharge and one with double surcharge, on 1883 telegraph receipt, used with 2 Peso green Telegraph, Nos. 68, 78 and strip of three of No. 76, canceled with typical hole punch, plus 8 others; 1883 four color franking 1883 to Angola (no receiving markings); 1864 31½c black on yellow (two), also 12½c blue on salmon, three covers or folded letters, one with oval "Dist. de Capiz" departure postmark, others with grids or oval postmark, used 1864-65 to Manila, with arrival postmarks; 1856 1r gray green, two singles, each with three margins, touching at bottom, or cut in at right, tied by oval grids on cover to Bilbao, Spain, with Manila 25 Dec. 1861 departure and Bilbao 17 Feb. 62 arrival postmarks; 1869 Manila to Madrid with 12 4/8 (Scott #37), surcharge; 1870 Manila to Puerto de Santa Maria, Spain with two 6 2/8c (Scott #36) surcharges; 1874, 62c Rose (50), tied by neat strike of parilla handstamp on large part of folded cover to Badajoz, Spain, neat "Manila 3 AGO 75" double-circle datestamp (very few covers are known with this stamp which paid the 62c single-weight rate to Spain and Colonies); Philippines #178, mourning cover with Manila,13 Jul 1898 indistinct purple straight-line strike ties 25c stamp to envelope with Black Mourning Border, addressed locally, reverse with clear Mil. Sta. No. 1 Manila Philippines, received Ty #CE-2 strike (very scarce), etc., lot needs careful inspection, usual condition for this period, includes many bought as individual lots out of various auctions (no photo).
