(Kern) Tehichipi, Cal., Aug 14, 1884, clear strike of blue cds (KER-4130) on 2¢ red entire to San Francisco, with matching grid handstamp canceling, receiving backstamps; slightly reduced at right, Very Fine, the only recorded example of the "Tehichipi" town postmark and the latest recorded use from this town. Estimate $300 - 400.
During the first period the Tehachipi post office was opened (1869-85) the postal marking named changed four times. From Tehachipah, to Tehachipa, then Tehichipa and finally Tehichipi.
