Cumberland, Me, Dec 26, bold printed straight line postmark with manuscript date (Dow type 1) on cover addressed to the postmaster in Limnington, Maine, franked with manuscript canceled 1857, 3¢ rose, type I (25), with original printed advertising enclosures from printer Horace L. Gray, one datelined "Post Office, Cumberland, Me., Dec. 1857." noting Gray "Being employed in this office" and promoting ink products and recipes for inks, also a recipe for black blue and red inks and order form; some trivial light cover wrinkling, Very Fine, featured in Milgram's Cumberland precancel article in the Chronicle (February 2016).Estimate $5,000 - 7,500.
