(Edgecombe County, N.C. to London 1761), letter written by James Moir rector of Saint Mary's parish in Edgecombe County to "Rev. Bearcroft, Secretary to the Society for the Propagation of the Gospel in Foreign Parts", the docketing notation was written by Rev. Bearcroft (initial "B") and shows the letter was written in North Carolina by James Moir, on April 13 1761, and was read at the committee on August 17, 1761, manuscript 4p due marking and backstamped "July 4" London Bishop marking, cover tear at top, Fine, ex-R. Winter.
Estimate    $1,000 - 1,500.

AN IMPORTANT COVER AND VERY EARLY TRANSATLANTIC FROM NORTH CAROLINA.

The letter was sent by ship probably from Edenton to London. Contents of letter are in the SPG archives, Bodieian Library, University of Oxford.
