Ecuador, 1865, 1r light bistre, vertical strip of five and strip of four, full margins with top stamp in strip four a bit in at top, in combination with 1865, ½r blue (2) on judicial wrapper to Quito, canceled and tied together by neat "Latacunga" provisional box postmarks, red crayon "18½oz" weight notation and "13 de Mayo de 1866" docketing on reverse, Very Fine, this Latacunga pre-adhesive postmark was used during the first half of 1865, fewer than ten recorded usages of this provisional handstamp used as a cancelling device.
