Scott, Maj. Gen. Winfield. 3 page letter datelined "Oct 31st, 1814" addressed to Col. Charles K. Gardner in the Niagara Frontier, manuscript "25" rate crossed out and rate "Free", with partial "George T Col., Nov 2" cds, letter stating "This is written at Ross's" which was a tavern en route to Washington from Baltimore where Scott's command was located, interesting content regarding battle at Chippewa; As to what happened in front of Chippewa, it was not forseen, Tho it might have been infered from "The forgone conclusion"., Drummond already being greatly reinforced and that; Even two thousand men landed at the mouth of the 4 Mile creek (West of Ft. George) direct from Sackett's Harbor, together with a simultaneous movement from Ft. Erie might have produced a different result (referring to failure of attack of Ft. Erie), also predicts attack on Baltimore, reference to Mr. Monroe and numerous famous officers including Towson, Jones and Drayton, Very Fine, a highly historical War of 1812 letter.
