1814 Folded Cover to Ireland. Datelined Washington, D.C., June 14th, 1814 and addressed to Belfast with two line Col. Par L'Orient handstamp manuscript 2/4 (crossed out) & 2/7, backstamped Foreign, Au. 12, 1814 double circle handstamp, original letter (split from outer lettersheet) written by Samuel Williams and talks of the War of 1812, which states in part, "In January last I accepted of the appointment of Deputy Marshall, the State of Ohio, and in that capacity had charge, at Chillicothe, of 350 British Prisoners of war that were taken on board the British fleet on Lake Erie, by Com. Perry. A number of these prisoners are Irishmen - some from Belfast & vicinity.", some minor cover soiling, Very Fine, a wonderful & historic item.
