Hong Kong, 1900-07 Marine Sorter Covers. 1900 G.B. to China & 1907 Singapore to U.S.; 1) Great Britain QV 1d naval concession rate, cancelled "Portsmouth Oc 23 99", to an HMS vessel in China, but redirected to "Cape of Good Hope South Africa" (manuscript), datestamped "Point Natal 22 No 99", redirected to "HMS Victorious China Station", backstamped "Colombo De 20 (99)", and "Singapore To Hong Kong A Ja 1 00" (Proud type D8: 29 Sep 1878 - 28 Jan 1900), no marine sorter mark recorded in Proud on this voyage by P&O Valetta from Singapore, 31 Dec 1899 to Hong Kong, 7 Jan 1900, apparently sent in search of addressee, as indicated by "Hong Kong Ja 13" cds, but without success and returned to "Portsmouth AP 14 00", finally back out again with "Colombo My 16" & "Hong Kong My 30 00" cds, manuscript "Received June 29th 1900 8 months & 6 days out" somewhat tatty and stained due to much-traveled nature, 2) printed post card legend struck out, and "Printed Matter Only" hand-stamped, allowing 1¢ rate, Straits Settlements KEVII 1¢ cancelled "Singapore Ju _ 07", with "Singapore To Hong Kong 8 Ju 07" (Proud type D15: low index letter, 1900-09, value 5,000 points), marine sorting performed on P&O Delta from Singapore, 8 June to Hong Kong, 12 June 07, Very Fine postmarks.Estimate $300 - 400.
