Clackamas. (1870 to date) incoming 1860 free frank envelope from Joseph Lane, first Senator from Oregon (statehood 14 Feb 1859), addressed to Philip Foster, co-builder with Sam Barlow of the Barlow Road, a cut-off from the Oregon Trail around Mount Hood to Oregon City; flap mostly missing and tape stains on reverse, F.-V.F., there was no Clackamas post office for another ten years - Foster probably picked up the letter at the Oregon City post office.
