Stampless letter carried privately on the Oregon Trail, posted at Independence, Mo., Nov 18 cds, with manuscript "10", addressed to West Troy, N.Y.; contents of letter datelined as above and written by female missionary teaching at Oregon Institute, some sort of boarding school for the native population, and speaks of "converting souls" and other "Lord's work"; reasonably well preserved with some separations, F.-V.F. Estimate $500 - 750.
