Multicolor lettersheet datelined "Hilton Head, Fort Wells, Nov. 30, 1861" enclosure with original Free Frank cover postmarked "New York/Free" cds with straight line "Free" handstamp at right, signed by Member of Congress, interesting letter talking of life in camp and gun boat movements, "Yesterday there was four of our gun boats went up within four miles of Charleston City. They took a small fort and brought the guns away with them. They were not gone from here but a few hours. They have silenced the guns at Beaufort. They are now shelling Ft. Pulaski. We can hear the guns from here.", Extremely Fine, undoubtedly carrier by Military ship from Hilton Head to New York for mailing.
