Tied by red New York cds on folded letter sheet to Mérida, Mexico, manuscript "pr City of Mexico" ship endorsement and "8" reales due handstamp; cover missing top flap, a few small internal holes and file folds one affecting 30¢ stamp, F.-V.F. appearance, a rare quadruple rate usage and franking.

New York foreign mail covers with the red date stamp canceling the stamps are rare, and particularly so when franked with high value Banknotes.
