California Cover Collection, 1850's-1897. Group of 51 covers, diverse assortment of counties and usages, including several on 10¢ green 1853-55 Nesbitt entires with red "Martinez", 1859 "Grass Valley", "Marysville" blue Paid by Stamps and large star cancel; several different "Strawberry Valley" including "Yuba Co." in cds & shield fancy cancel on #65, scallop shell cds with star cancel on 3£ green Banknote; "Weaverville" blue oval and matching handstamp "10"; jumbo 3¢ 1869 with margin arrow with early "Ukiah" cds; "Stockton, Cal / 6 Paid" cds to Conn.; "Cloverdale" cds on 10¢ green 1851; bold "Mokelumne Hill" cds on 3¢ Nesbitt; 1888 Alameda with 2¢ + 3¢ Banknotes, to Naval officer at "Yokohama" with proper back stamps; terrific "Brooklyn" sadly missing its adhesive with bold red oval Espreso de la Baja Cala, to "Lapas, Lower California"; altogether very interesting and valuable lot worth a close evaluation (no photo).
