Postal Card, 1873 1¢ brown, Complete Set of Damaged Subject Plates. All 4 Subject Plates (SP4, 7, 23 & 45) in the 4 "states", UX1 before big-hole damage, UX1 & UX3 with big-hole damage and UX3 with recut for a total of 16 cards plus 3 extras, unused and used mixed with one of the UX1 a full mint card, F.-V.F. UPSS $1,360.

Our first postal card printing plate was damaged after printing began. This damage is most easily seen in the left and right side borders a half inch from the top. It exists in 3 sates "before big-hole damage", "big-hole damage" and "after big-hole recut". The big-hole recut comes on UX1 and UX3 with the other 2 coming on only one card each.
