Confederacy, 8-Star Confederate Flag. hand-painted on turned cover postmarked "Salem, N.C." cds & with "Paid/10" handstamp (type IB); original usage is to Salem, franked with a pen-canceled four margin 1861 5¢ light green, stone 1 with no town marking; very light water stain at left, one side flap rejoined, F.-V.F. and completely unique. Estimate $500 - 750.
