Entire dated "Boston Jul 30 - 1839" carried privately to New York to be put on the Great Western" which left on the 31st July for Bristol. Arrived Bristol on 14th August to receive the "BRISTOL / SHIP LETTER" Reverse bears a London morning arrival stamp for 15th August. Charged "1/6" being 8d. ship letter fee plus 10d. inland. Atlantic transit of 16 days., Very Fine and choice. Estimate $400 - 600.
