Manuscript postmark on 1854 buff cover to Wisconsin with matching "Paid 6" manuscript rate, cover with original enclosure with excellent contents regarding Indian Fight, "We expected a treat the other day in the way of an Indian fight on our flat. The parties met & after a great deal of bravado on both sides, one of the parties backed out & withdrew from the field. There mode of warfare is different from the eastern Indians. They select open grounds and fight with a good deal of system. One of the principal maneuvers is out flanking their enemy.", letter also has mining content including a hand drawn map showing the mining area including "New York Flat", "Odd Fellows Ravine", "Dry Ravine", "Road to Forbestown from Marysville", "My own little home" and "Where the $500 Nugget was taken out", etc., part of flap torn away, Very Fine and choice.
