Type 4 (Haller Unlisted) Red Frank, "Through Our California and Atlantic Express.", Die 2 Without Engravers Name. On 1853-55 10¢ Nesbitt entire to Boston, Mass., cancelled by blue octagonal "Greathouse & Slicer/Yreka/connecting with Wells Fargo & Co" handstamp, flap missing, small expertly repaired holes at top and bottom noted on 1982 P.F. certificate, still Very Fine, a lovely exhibition piece of the greatest rarity, as this is 1 of 2 examples of the Greathouse & Slicer marking on a red franked cover (the other is a paste-up), ex-Metkin. Estimate $1,000 - 1,500.
