Fayetteville, Ark, Nov 3. Red cds with manuscript date on ca. 1840's folded letter sheet addressed to Stand Waitie in Beaties Prairie, Ark. (Indian territory), manuscript "10" rate, Very Fine.

Stand Waitie was a leader of the Cherokee Nation and a brigadier general of the Confederate States Army during the American Civil War. He commanded the Confederate Indian cavalry of the Army of the Trans-Mississippi and was the last Confederate general in the field to surrender.
