Transatlantic Mail to and from Cuba

1870 (Dec. 10) Havana, Cuba to Christiansund, Norway via New York, folded cover with company origin h.s., black "New York Dec 21" transit cds with large black "7" debit h.s. to North Germany Union, carried by Guion Line Idaho from New York Dec. 21 to Queenstown arriving Jan. 1, Norwegian red crayon "35" skilling due rating, Very Fine, uncommon letter routing from Cuba through the U.S. to Norway by North German Union mails.
Estimate    $200 - 300.

Letter carried to New York by Atlantic Mail Steamship Co. steamer "Columbia". New York debited NGU 7¢ for transit fees from Cuba to New York. Letter sent in closed mail bag through England and Belgium to Aachen. Prussia marked 10 silbergroschen debit to Norway-Sweden post office for transit fees owed Prussia. Norway marked letter for 33 skilling then corrected to 35 skilling.
