1856 (Nov. 24) Winterthur, Switzerland to Wartburg, Tennessee, folded cover with "Winterthur 24 Nov. 56" origin cds, Bremen (11.27) backstamp with "10/15" debit rating, blue manuscript "5" rating updated to "4", carried by Ocean Line Hermann from Bremerhaven Nov. 29 but had to return to Southampton on Dec. 14 with a broken shaft and transferred her mails to Havre Line Fulton, which departed Dec. 18 and arrived in New York Dec. 31, "New York Am. Pkt. Dec 31" exchange cds with matching "25" cent due rating h.s., some small faults and soiling, Fine, a scarce Bremen treaty rate from Switzerland.
Estimate    $200 - 300.

Swiss debited Baden 3 kreuzer for transit from 1st rayon. Baden debited Bremen 4 silbergroschen. Bremen showed breakdown of total fees as 10 grote German and foreign transit and 15 grote international fees.
