1912, 2¢ Lake, o.g., very lightly hinged, large margins, deep distinctive lake color, fresh and Very Fine, a very rare error of color variety as approximately a dozen unused examples of the 1912 2¢ Lake variety have been certified by the Philatelic Foundation; 2010 P.S.E. certificate. Scott No. 406c $2,000.
It is believe that an error occurred at the Bureau of Engraving and Printing and a small quantity of the 1912 2¢ Washington stamps where printed with inks that where being used to produce the postage due issues.
