San Luis Colo Dec 1, blue cds on circa 1865 cover to Don Fernando de Taos, New Mexico Territory, franked with blue target cancelled 1861 3¢ rose (defective), cover slightly reduced at left, F.-V.F. and rare, the only recorded territorial cover from San Luis, illustrated in Jarrett's Colorado book, ex Person. Estimate $300 - 400.
San Luis, which was settled in 1851, is credited as the oldest occupied town in Colorado.
