Hawaii, Elizabeth E. Bishop Correspondence, 3 folded letters, two dated 1823 and one 1826, all from Boston, Mass., no postal markings, 1826 letter from Lucy Jenkins with interesting missionary content…I have for a few days past been much interested in a colony of coloured people who are about to sail from this place for Liberia on the coast of Africa. The Colonization Society send them out there is about twenty of the natives who go accompanied by the agent of the society, a missionary & a physician. Some of them were brought from as slaves, others were born in this country; 1823 letter with fold separations, toning and one with some erosion, Fine, a very early group of letters to Hawaii. Estimate $250 - 350.
