1901 (Dec. 22) Nanking, China To Van Meter, Iowa Via U.S. Postal Agency Shanghai, cover bearing 1898, 5¢ dark blue, tied by turquoise sender's tie-print cachet, Nanking (12.22) origin bilingual cds and Shanghai bilingual backstamp, entered U.S. mails with "U.S. Postal Agency, Shanghai, 24 Dec '01" duplex cancelling stamp, reverse with San Francisco (1.16) and Van Meter (1.20) arrival cds; reduced slightly at right, some edge wear, F.-V.F.
