(Spencerian Script) Hand Drawn Swan in Lake, fancy illustrated address panel on Bryant & Stratton's Mercantile Colleges corner card cover, addressed by Platt Spencer to his daughter in Painesville, O., franked with 1857, 3¢ rose tied by "Cleveland, O., Sep 5" cds, 1857 docketing on reverse; cover faintly toned, otherwise Very Fine.

Bryant & Stratton Colleges were founded in over 50 cities in the United States by students of Spencer. Spencer was involved with the institution serving as a partner and teacher at the school which originally focused on bookkeeping and standardized penmanship.
