Circular Open Grid, bold strike in red ties 1861, 5¢ buff, additionally tied by black target duplexed with "New York Nov 12" cds, on 1861 folded cover to Halifax, Nova Scotia, endorsed "pr Europa", reverse with "U. States, Halifax, NO 15, 1861" arrival backstamp, black "5" pence due rating handstamp; no side flap, Very Fine and unusual use. Scott No. 67.

This letter was first directed to the N.Y. Foreign Mail division and cancelled by the red grid, then properly handled by the Domestic Division who cancelled with the duplex device.
