(Cancels) 3¢ Orange Brown, Type I, large margins to just shaving frameline at bottom, bright vibrant color, tied by bold socked-on-the-nose "New York, Aug 22" integral single bar cds on immaculate cover to Cooperstown, Extremely Fine, a gem usage of this short-lived experimental postmark.
Scott No. 10    Estimate $300 - 400.

The use of this "single bar" cancellation is known only in the latter half of August 1851 for a period of sixteen days from the 12th to the 27th. It was one of several different bar style integral cancellers used during this period in New York City.
