Confederacy, Romney (West) Va., Jan 18, bold strike of cds with matching "10" rating handstamp and manuscript "Due", addressed to Forsyth Ga., soldier's endorsement "Lt. J. T. Stephens, Co. K 1st Ga Vol."; cover tear upper left, otherwise Very Fine, ex-Wiseman, Thayer.
Estimate    $200 - 300.

Romney is in Hampshire County, which would later be incorporated into the Union State of West Virginia in 1863. John T. Stephens mustered into Co. K of the 1st Ga. Volunteers Regiment and mustered out at Augusta Ga. on Mar. 18, 18862 when the regiment was dissolved.
