Confederacy, Fort Valley Ga., 5¢ on 3¢ Black, clear strikes of "Paid 3" U.S. rate and "Fort Valley Ga." provisional control circle and revalued with a "5" rate handstamp on orange cover to Eufala Ala., with contents datelined "Fort Valley July 6th 1861", light stain at left, some edge wear with corner flaw, F.-V.F.; with 2012 C.S.A. certificate.

THE ONLY RECORDED EXAMPLE OF THE FORT VALLEY 3¢ PROVISIONAL ENTIRE REVALUED TO 5¢.

This revalued 5¢ provisional entire was recently listed in the new CSA handbook. There are two known Fort Valley 3¢ provisional entires: April 12, 1851 offered in the Hall sale and a third without the control mark dated March 19, 1861 was offered in the Kohn sale.
