Confederacy, 7-Star Flag With "Our Flag" Slogan, full color design of Waving Flag over "SC" for Southern Congress, affixed along with CSA 1862, 5¢ blue (4), minor gum stain, on July 4, 1862 letter written just after the Union occupied New Orleans by a soldier writing back home to Massachusetts, he states "And this 7 stars and stripes is what he is afighting for. 'C.S.' cannot always live"; fold separation, Very Fine and interesting soldier sentiment, ex-Groten. Scott No. 4.

This letter datelined at New Orleans La. was written by Dan E. Morrison who enlisted as a Private on November 21, 1861 and mustered into Company F of the MA 31st Infantry. He was commissioned as 2nd Lieut. into Company B of the CT 91st Infantry on Sep. 23, 1863.
