(Restored Rate) 1848 (Dec.) Persia To Monson Mass. Via Edinburgh, Scotland, part folded letter from missionary in Persia with disinfection slits, entered mails with red "Paid at Edinh. Dec 22 1848" split ring postmark and red manuscript "1/-" packet rating, London (12.23) and Liverpool (12.23) backstamps, carried by Cunard America from Liverpool Dec. 30th to Boston arriving Boston Jan. 12th, red "Boston 'Ship' Jan 12" entry cds and matching "7" rating handstamp for 5¢ inland postage plus 2¢ ship fee, red "Monson Ms. Jan 15" cds forwarding to Palmer, manuscript "Palmer Ms 7, Forward 5" totaled to "12" due rating, Very Fine and attractive, A rare dinsinfected and forwarded transatlantic use during the restored rate period.
